Death notice Jack McGrady

Jack McGrady

The committee and members of Carryduff GAC are saddened to learn of the death of Jack McGrady and extend their sympathy to Jack’s children, Siobhan, Fionnuala, Aidan and their families.

Jack was involved in the early years of our club in all its activities. He was a frequent committee member and in 1979 as elected to the post of registrar. In 1976 he became the club’s second Senior Football manager and successfully steered the team to our second East Down League Shield title.

Back in 1973 he played a major part in the on-field success of the team, as documented in a press report of the JFC quarter final game against Annsborough.
“Then Colm Glavin, the Carryduff team manager, pulled a match winning switch. He sent in veteran club-man Jackie McGrady to full forward and the side clicked into action with the cool-headed McGrady bagging a goal and a point.”

Before his time with Carryduff, Jack was a member of Drumnaquoile GFC and a former champion cross-country runner.
