After a tough work-out against Carryduff Seniors the previous evening, a depleted Under 8.5 squad arrived in Drumaness keen to perform well in humid conditions. They opened with a dominant performance against Ballykinlar with Niall McReynolds, Tom Hickson and Joseph Kerr all finding the target. Shay Spillane gave a solid performance between the posts to keep scores from the opposition to a minimum. Next followed two games against local rivals Bredagh, it was here that the lads really began to work as a team, picking off some excellent scores after great defensive work from Nathan Sergeant, Osian Woods and Matthew Norney. Michael Boyle really rose to the challenge at midfield and won plenty of dirty ball. Special mention must go to Fionn Dougan for a fine individual score and also to Sean Teague who marshalled the back line superbly in order to handle a dangerous Bredagh forward line. This game was followed by a physical challenge against hosts Drumaness and most impressive here were individual performances from Kian Dougan and Oisin McEvoy who game a brave performance in goals. An impressive individual performance from Conall Vaugh against his former club saw Carryduff comfortably over the line. The morning concluded against the aristocrats of Bryansford. In both games our lads more than matched their counterparts in terms of skill, intensity and determination. Ryan McHugh worked hard in the forward line to prevent the stream of attacks from the opponents. Well done to all those who took part!
