50th anniversary of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, (LGFA)

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, (LGFA), and the 30th anniversary of the Down LGFA. An occasion to be marked, and what better way to do so than with an extravaganza of football provided by younger players to take place this Saturday, the 17th of August.

Over 20 Clubs from other parts of the Country will travel to play against the young players of Carryduff.

In the morning, commencing with a parade at 11.00am, our under 10.5s will make up three teams in a 16 team blitz followed by our under 12s at 2.00pm, again with 3 teams, in a 12 team blitz. Over 400 young players will participate throughout the day in Pairc Aodha Dhuibh, which will be a sight to behold. And, to top it all off, at 6pm, our not quite so young G4MOs, will take on East Belfast to round off the day.

But that’s not all. At 10.00 we begin the day with the now famous under 12 bake sale taking place in the Hub. Then, throughout the day we will have lots going on including music, a barbecue, face painting, friendship bracelet making, and much more, so a day not to be missed!!

Proceedings will be facilitated by our coaches, supported by our older players, and hopefully enjoyed by the community as a whole. A fitting way to mark the anniversary of our County, the anniversary of our Association, and the involvement of our Club in the provision of football for ladies. Please come along to enjoy and support!!
