Ding, ding, seconds out it was time for the second instalment to renew hostilities with the local rivals. With wounds still healing from the Onslaught at the Ozone this offered 2 Carryduff teams a quick shot at redemption.
Team A took to the grass for battle, playing a fluid 5-2-5 the desire to work for each other was clear from the throw in. Although dominant it did not translate into scores with shooting that was literally hit & miss. Eventually Bredagh began to fire winning the breaking ball and moving it forward with speed. It mattered little has when forward they met a defensive wall so great that China would have been proud to build it.
Team 1 set their stall on the all weather pitch. Lining out 2-3-2-3-2 which allowed some brilliant pass and move sequences going forward and a rugged and resolute defence that breathed the mantra “though shall not pass” and pass they did not. Some fine attacking play was built on a foundation of hard tackles, tenacious turnovers and astute balls by a defence best described as a bastion of blockage.
It was the men from down the hill that were downhearted this time.
