U14 Boys Update

Last Monday evening saw the clash of Carryduff and Bryansford in the East Down U14 Section A league at Pairc Aodha Dhuibh. Carryduff were looking to reverse their early season defeat at the hands of the same opponents, but it was the visitors who made the best of the early exchanges and thanks to fine shooting and a 3 pointer from the penalty spot, took a commanding lead.

The Carryduff men, playing into a strong breeze, dug in however and played their way into the game, narrowing the deficit to 4 points at the break. In the second half Carryduff showed tremendous character as the game ebbed and flowed with each team hitting the front on several occasions. Led by Captain Rory Crosbie, who gave a great exhibition of long range free taking, it was the home side who emerged victorious on a score line of 2-9 to 2-5 at the final whistle.

In Division Two, Carryduff hosted Teconnaught at Lough Moss. After a cagey opening, it was Carryduff who led by a point mid-way through the half, before the visitors were awarded a penalty which they duly converted. They hit another major before the break, to turn round 6 points to the good.

Teconnaught extended their lead in the early stages of the second half, before Carryduff rallied well to hit two quick fire goals and reduce the deficit to four points. Both sides exchanged further goals, but it was the visitors who finished best, hitting 1-2 without reply in the closing minutes, to run out victors on a score line of 5-10 to 4-3.
