To Carryduff GAC Adult members
I had contacted David Martin at Carryduff Centra to discuss the Centra/SuperValu/GAA ‘Let’s Club Together’ initiative to assist the wider Community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
David advised that the Centra already was working jointly with the BT8Coronavirus Community Group to assist get groceries etc to those in need of assistance.
Consequently I linked with and spoke with Áine Loughran who is assisting coordinate the BT8Coronavirus Community Group and we agreed that it would be more productive if Club members who wish to volunteer assistance to the local community during the Covid-19 pandemic were to do so as part of the BT8Coronavirus Community Group’s efforts.
This would be helpful as it would:-
1. Maximise the coordination and value of volunteering efforts in a consistent framework;
2. Help avoid duplication or waste of effort;
3. Link the Club in with wider Community effort/response
4. Maintain community integration towards a common purpose
We agreed it is sensible to coordinate our efforts to help the community in these unprecedented times as this approach affords club members the opportunity to contribute in an organised and supported manner.
Áine has sent me the link toBT8Coronavirus Community Group Facebook page below:https://www.facebook.com/BT8Coronavirus/
and invited me/us to feel free to get in touch at any stage and thanked us for our support in this context.
Members of the Executive Committee are pleased to be able to offer members this opportunity to contribute in an organised context as a number of Committee members cannotpersonally take additional responsibilities on at this time given work and personal commitments as the predicted Covid-19 surge escalates over the next 2 weeks.
The BT8Coronavirus Community Group can also coordinate with the Volunteer Now led Voluntary Sector coordination of response to the pandemic (#HelpEachOther).
On behalf of Carryduff GAC I express our gratitude to those members who have assisted our community to date and will do so into the future
Bígí uilig slán ‘s Dia libhse ar an drochuair.
All be safe and God be with you all in these challenging times
