It was the final round of the U13 East Down league on Sunday and in Division One, Carryduff made the short trip to Cherryvale to play local rivals Bredagh. The Duff were seeking to maintain their one hundred per cent winning record, but faced a tough test against a determined home side.

Carryduff started brightly and hit 1-2 without reply, the goal coming from Jacob Kelly after Tom McCarroll and Rory Crosbie had fired over points. Bredagh responded with a goal and point of their own to leave the minimum between the sides at the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with scores hard to come by, as both sides defended well and worked hard all over the pitch. Eoin Blaney fired in a goal to give the Duff some breathing space and this was followed by a point from Eoin Donnelly. As the game entered the final ten minutes Oran Teague fired in a goal followed by a point from Rory Crosbie, the score of the match.

Bredagh hit two late points, but could never eat into the Duff lead as the game ended on a scoreline of Carryduff 3-4 Bredagh 1-3.

Carryduff will play Bryansford in the East Down final in what promises to be an exciting and keenly contested affair.
