Minors Narrowly Beaten in Clonduff

Clonduff U18 1-12 Carryduff U18 2-7

Carryduff Minor Footballers lost out narrowly on Thursday evening in an exciting contest in Clonduff against a strong home team.

Playing with the wind Clonduff dominated the opening half running up an 8 point half time lead. After the break further points from Clonduff extended the lead to 12 points as a rampant home team threatened to run away with it. However bolstered by a brilliant Tommy Connery in nets and driven on by captain John McGeough the Carryduff lads dug in and launched a spirited comeback picking off a series of fine points to close the gap.

Into a hectic final quarter; goals from Dylan Stronge and Daniel Coogan reduced arrears to just 3 points. With Carryduff threatening Clonduff’s goalkeeper proved the hero of the hour pulling off an outstanding last-gasp save to deny the Carryduff lads a share of the points. Overall a fine effort from both teams in what can reasonably be described as a game of two halves.
