Gaelic For Mother’s & Others National Blitz

NATIONAL #G4MO BLITZ 5th Oct 2019

The eagerly anticipated day had finally arrived! The one we had all be training towards….the BIG ONE, the National G4MO Blitz 2019 was here at last!!

This year’s event was the biggest ever. 120 teams, 16 pitches were running simultaneously with 6 teams allocated to each pitch and we were delighted to be there for the third year running.

The Carryduff #G4MO on arrival set up camp at the edge of pitch 10 before heading for the huge group warm up. Now we were all set for a day of great football.

Our ladies played 5 games in total against some challenging opposition from Longford (Edgeworthstown), Meath (Boardsmill), Dublin (Kilmacud Crokes), Westmeath (Ballymore) and an all Ulster tie with Tyrone team Glenelly. Despite the weather, the games were played in fantastic spirit. Not even the rain could dampen the enthusiasm. Out of the 5 matches, our ladies were the stronger team in 4. Only Boardsmill had the upper hand over our hardworking Carryduff G4MO team but of course in the ethos of #G4MO games no scores were kept. Some impressive football was played throughout all the games.

Now it was time to kick off the boots and enjoy our well earned pizza 🍕🍕 and liquid rehydration 🍾🍾. The evening entertainment laid on by the host club was buzzing and we all joined the throngs of fellow players & supporters in the club house to round off the memorable day.

Special mention to our 2 award winners of the 2019 season Rosie and Kristy. Well done girls and congratulations from us all. Two well deserving recipients 🏆😁

Huge thanks to Michael C for driving and enduring us🙈 over the weekend. And we can’t forget our travelling support who came along to join us even though they got saturated!!!

Roll on 2020 💜💛
