Bredagh 0-9
Carryduff 3-9
On a cold and windy evening at Cherryvale the thirds dominated a strong Bredagh side with smart build up play, clinical finishing and poaching prowess.
Bredagh started the better side notching up a couple of of scores with the wind at their back boasting senior veterans Conall Toland and Henry Deazley in their ranks.
But with Carryduff’s fast build up and unselfish play from Eoghan Neil, James Connery punched home the first goal of the game to put Carryduff ahead. Points from Michael Lawson and clinical free taking from Chris McConville put the Carryduff side ahead at the break.
Carryduff started the second half well with another punched goal from James Connery assisted by the smart and unselfish play of Eoghan Neil. Strong running and ball winning from Michael Graham and Conor McCann helped Carryduff dominate possession. A number of textbook free kicks from McConville meant Carryduff were always in control and never looked like losing. Resolute and stern defending from new recruit Aidan O Brien, Michael Graham and Paul Murphy kept the Ravenhill men at bay and were smothered at any goal opportunity.
James McKernan rounded off the goal scoring with another punched goal from a pin point pass from Michael Lawson. This came as a result of strong ball retention and possession play from converted full back Gavin Kelly.
The second half was marred by a potentially serious injury to Joe McConnell and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Carryduff have a break now for two weeks and hope to continue their winning ways away to Kilcoo in 2 weeks time.
